A Table for One, Please

Silence, Sips, and Self-Care

I’m a foodie at heart, always have been. I’ll try just about anything once (at least for the story), and if you’ve followed along with my recipes, you already know I love cooking good food just as much as I love eating it. That said, one of my favorite self-care rituals is treating myself to a solo brunch or dinner date.

Yes, I adore exploring new restaurants with my partner. He’s a fellow foodie who actually knows the joy of a perfect sauce or the brilliance of a well-balanced dish (and thankfully doesn't default to chicken tenders and fries). But there’s something sacred about a meal enjoyed alone. No small talk, no distractions—just me, a beautiful plate of food, a good book or podcast, and time to simply be.

As mothers, we’re constantly surrounded by sound, needs, questions, mess, movement. It’s a lot. And while motherhood is a gift, it’s also a job that doesn’t clock out. That’s why carving out solo moments, especially moments that nourish you, isn’t a luxury. It’s a lifeline.

So whether it's a table for one at your favorite café or a cozy setup at home after bedtime, I say romanticize the hell out of it. Order the appetizer. Sit in silence. Sip slowly. Refill your own cup, figuratively and literally.

You deserve that plate of peace.
