Family Movie Night: Hotel Transylvania
Bleh, Bleh, Bleh!
I told you we were coming in hot for Halloween! Somehow, we’re going to attempt multiple movie nights a week, depending on what our schedule allows. Honestly, I think this might be a little easier than trying to pull off 31 Nights of Halloween again. We love our spooky season traditions, but a busy schedule calls for a little flexibility!
Tonight, we’re watching Hotel Transylvania! Erik hadn’t seen it before, while AG and I quote it all the time. In fact, AG’s alarm is Dracula’s voice, so it’s safe to say we’re big fans of this movie. It was about time Erik joined the fun!
Since we’re squeezing multiple movie nights into an already busy week, we’re taking a few shortcuts in the kitchen. As much as I love making everything from scratch, sometimes there just aren’t enough hours in the day. And that’s okay! You can still whip up something fun, get everyone involved in the kitchen, and make memories without spending hours preparing a themed menu.
If you haven’t watched Hotel Transylvania, it’s the perfect mix of spooky and silly for Halloween movie night! Dracula runs a hotel where monsters can vacation away from humans, but things get a little chaotic when an unexpected human stumbles into the mix. Between Dracula’s overprotective dad antics and all the monster mayhem, it’s a fun one for the whole family. And honestly, any movie that gives us this many quotable lines earns a spot in our Halloween lineup!
Tonight's Menu
Murray’s Mummy Dogs
Frankenstein’s Fries
Mavis’s Bat Wing Brownie Bites
Dracula’s Blood Cocktail
Murray’s Mummy Dogs
These Mummy Dogs are a fun, spooky twist on a classic pigs in a blanket! Wrapped in crescent dough with cheesy goodness and candy eyes, they’re the perfect easy Halloween snack for movie nights, parties, or a festive dinner with the family.
Ingredients
1 8-oz can of crescent roll dough
8-10 hot dog wieners
2-3 slices of American cheese
candy eyes
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
2. Unroll the dough. If using crescent rolls, separate the dough into 4 rectangles and press the perforations to seal. If using a dough sheet, simply cut it into 4 rectangles.
3. Using a knife or pizza cutter, cut each rectangle lengthwise into 10 strips, for a total of 40 strips.
4. Cut the cheese slices into quarters. If using a ½ slice of cheese, cut it in half.
5. Pair each hot dog with a piece of cheese. Wrap 4 strips of dough around each hot dog to create mummy wraps, slightly stretching the dough to cover the hot dogs. Leave a small opening about ½ inch from one end for the mummy’s face. Repeat with the remaining hot dogs, cheese, and dough.
6. Place the wrapped hot dogs cheese-side down on a large, ungreased baking sheet. Lightly spray the dough with cooking spray.
7. Bake for 13–17 minutes, or until the dough is light golden brown and the hot dogs are heated through. Immediately after removing them from the oven, add two candy eyes to each mummy’s face opening.
