Easy Dalgona Coffee (Just 3 Ingredients!)

Coffee lovers, rise!

I love a good cup of coffee in the morning, especially a strong espresso. I'm a proud Café Bustelo loyalist, so you'll almost always find a bulk stash tucked away in our pantry.

During the summer, though, it gets a little harder to enjoy a hot cup of coffee, especially here in Texas (or really anywhere in the South). Between the heat and the humidity, the last thing most people want is a steaming mug in their hands.

Now, I'll admit...I drink hot coffee year-round. As long as the A/C is running, I'm perfectly happy with a hot cup. Erik, on the other hand, loves iced coffee during the warmer months, which, in Texas, seems to be about 10 out of the 12 months of the year.

The other night, he mentioned wanting to try Dalgona coffee. Naturally, because I love making food and drinks for the people I love, I decided to give it a shot. To my surprise, it was one of the easiest things I've made, right up there with homemade whipped cream.

The best part? It only takes three simple ingredients that you probably already have in your pantry. Just whip them together until they're light and fluffy, and you're done! Even better, it's made with a simple 1:1:1 ratio, so you can make as much or as little as you need. It also stores well in the refrigerator, making busy mornings even easier.

Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons instant coffee

  • 4 tablespoons granulated sugar

  • 4 tablespoons hot water

Instructions

Add the instant coffee, sugar, and hot water to a medium mixing bowl. Give everything a quick stir to help dissolve the coffee and sugar.

Using a hand mixer, whip the mixture for 3–5 minutes, or until it becomes thick, fluffy, and forms stiff peaks.

How to Enjoy Dalgona Coffee

Fill a glass with your favorite milk and ice, then top it with one or two generous scoops of the whipped coffee. Stir everything together before drinking for the perfect creamy coffee experience.

Prefer hot coffee? Simply warm your milk before adding the whipped coffee.

Looking for an adults only treat? Add a splash of Baileys or Irish whiskey for an easy after dinner coffee.

My favorite unexpected way to enjoy it? Spoon it over a couple scoops of vanilla bean ice cream for an incredibly simple coffee inspired dessert.

Storage

Store any leftover whipped Dalgona coffee in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. It may lose a little volume over time, but a quick stir or brief whisk will help bring it back to life before serving.

Whether you're making your morning coffee feel a little more special or looking for an afternoon pick me up, this three ingredient Dalgona coffee is an easy recipe to keep in your back pocket. Happy whipping!
