Date Night: 🍜 Ramen-tic Interlude at Wild Goji

Weekday Date Night: A Rare Sighting in the Wild

Every so often, the stars align, the schedule clears, and a miracle occurs: Erik and I go on a date in the middle of the week. Alone. Without negotiating over snacks, locating lost shoes, or hearing the phrase “I’m bored” before the car is even in gear.

While AG perfected her pirouettes and arabesques at dance practice, we seized our 90-minute freedom window and did what any responsible adult would do. Headed straight for sushi and cocktails!

We landed at Wild Goji, a restaurant that fully commits to the idea that food should travel to you via machinery. Sushi arrives on a conveyor belt, ramen arrives on a miniature train, and drinks arrive… well, in glasses, but we assume the staff considered using drones.

There’s something oddly therapeutic about watching little plates of food glide by on a belt. It’s like an airport baggage carousel, except instead of lost luggage, you get seaweed salad and spicy tuna rolls. And no one judges you if you take three plates in a row. We think.

Our ramen bowls came steaming and dramatic, delivered by a tiny train that chugged down a track like it had places to be. And the drinks? Well, we had a couple. For hydration. Obviously. The Wild Goji margarita is top tier. There’s a reason it’s their signature drink!

The best part of the evening wasn’t the sushi, the train, or the cocktails (though those certainly didn’t hurt). It was having uninterrupted conversation that didn’t involve planning logistics or the “mommy” that seems to creep in every time I start speaking. We talked. We laughed. We made goo-goo eyes at each other.

Wild Goji never disappoints. Plenty of options, consistently great drinks, and just enough novelty to feel like an adventure without needing passports or babysitters. A win in our book.

We returned in time for AG’s pickup, recharged and full of ramen. She asked if we brought her anything. We said yes: our undivided attention. She was unimpressed.

If you’re in the San Antonio area make sure to check out Wild Goji, especially during happy hour!
